The Cardiothoracic Surgery Advanced Practice Provider (APP), including both Nurse Practitioners (NP) and Physician Assistants (PA), plays a critical role in supporting the surgical team by providing high-quality care for patients undergoing cardiothoracic procedures. As a Cardiothoracic Surgery APP, you will work closely with surgeons, clinical staff, and patients to ensure optimal surgical outcomes and comprehensive perioperative management. In this full-time role, the Cardiothoracic Surgery APP is responsible for a blend of responsibilities both in the operating room (OR) and in patient care settings. Primary duties include serving as a first assist during surgery, managing office patients, and supporting inpatient care through activities such as rounding, admissions, and discharges. The majority of cases involve minimally invasive procedures, including lung surgery and select foregut operations, providing an opportunity to work on advanced surgical cases using leading-edge techniques. Familiarity with EPIC electronic medical records (EMR) will be essential for seamless documentation and patient tracking.
This is an ongoing opportunity, with coverage required three to four days per week, generally during daytime hours of 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. There is also an optional weekend call component focused exclusively on OR cases, allowing for flexibility in scheduling and a varied work experience. The credentialing process typically ranges from 60 to 90 days, and while an active license is preferred, support for obtaining licensure is available for qualified candidates.
