The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) role is a highly specialized advanced practice nursing position responsible for delivering anesthesia care and related services in a variety of clinical settings. As a CRNA, you will play a vital part within a collaborative healthcare team, providing safe and effective anesthesia to adult and pediatric patients undergoing surgical, obstetric, and trauma-related procedures. This opportunity is ideal for professionals seeking a dynamic and rewarding career in anesthesia practice, where your expertise and commitment to patient care are valued.

In this CRNA position, you will be assigned to a hospital environment with a robust range of cases, including elective surgeries, labor and delivery, and emergency department procedures. The typical shift schedule is Monday through Friday, from 7 am to 1 pm, with a guaranteed 32-hour workweek. There is flexibility in scheduling, with the potential for coverage ranging from one to two weeks per month, allowing for a work-life balance that supports professional and personal commitments. On-call responsibilities may include both weekday and weekend emergency department coverage, ensuring that patients have access to critical anesthesia services when needed.

The hospital setting includes both inpatient and outpatient surgery, as well as labor and delivery. You will provide anesthesia care for a wide spectrum of cases, primarily adults with some pediatric cases, especially in labor and delivery and ear, nose, and throat (ENT) procedures. Patient volumes typically range from 7 to 10 cases daily, in a facility designated as Trauma Level 3. The environment is supported by a dedicated team, including full support staff and generally three to four providers per day, ensuring a collegial and supportive work atmosphere. Solo coverage is rare and typically only occurs when on call.

As a CRNA, you will be expected to perform a comprehensive range of anesthesia procedures, including but not limited to general anesthesia for adult and pediatric patients, trauma anesthesia, spinal and epidural anesthesia, regional blocks, obstetric anesthesia, neurosurgical and spinal cases, postoperative care, as well as lumbar and cervical procedures. Ventilation management is also a key component of the role, ensuring continuity of care throughout the perioperative period. Documentation and patient charting are managed using the Meditech electronic medical record (EMR) system, supporting streamlined workflows and patient safety.

To qualify for this CRNA position, candidates must hold an active Wyoming nursing license or be eligible for licensure through the nursing compact. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications are required, reflecting the diverse patient population and complexity of cases. A minimum of two years of relevant CRNA experience is also necessary, ensuring the ability to independently manage a wide range of anesthesia situations. The hospital will provide full travel coverage, making this an excellent option for those seeking a locum tenens opportunity or a flexible work arrangement. The credentialing process typically takes 60 to 90 days for full privileges, with temporary privileges available to facilitate a timely start date. The anticipated start could be as early as mid-May.
