This assignment places the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) – Locum Tenens in a community hospital setting, working closely with a collaborative team and well-supported operating room staff. The hospital serves a steady flow of patients, with typical daily volumes ranging from seven to ten cases per shift. CRNAs can expect to manage a variety of anesthesia cases independently, contributing their expertise and skill set in an environment that values clinical autonomy and excellence in patient care.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, effective anesthesia care in an inpatient, community hospital environment as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) – Locum Tenens.
- Manage a range of cases, including general anesthesia, monitored anesthesia care (MAC), spinal and epidural anesthesia, and regional anesthesia procedures.
- Perform central and arterial line placements, as well as regional nerve blocks, as indicated by patient needs and case requirements.
- Provide anesthesia coverage for obstetric (OB) cases, excluding cardiac, complex neuro, thoracic, pediatric, or neonatal cases.
- Operate autonomously in the delivery of anesthesia services, with no mandatory supervision required.
- Participate in optional call coverage, including weekend or weekday second-call or backup duties, with approximately 20% callback rates.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes and maintain effective communication throughout the perioperative process.
- Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and clinical protocols, ensuring all care is delivered in accordance with current standards and regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Active and unrestricted Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) license is required.
- Current and valid California state licensure is mandatory for assignment eligibility.
- Demonstrated proficiency in administering general anesthesia, MAC, spinals, epidurals, and regional anesthesia techniques.
- Preferred experience with central and arterial line placement, regional nerve blocks, and obstetric anesthesia cases.
- No cardiac, complex neuro, thoracic, pediatric, or neonatal case responsibilities required.
- Ability to work independently, exercising sound clinical judgment and upholding best practices in anesthesia care.
- Credentialing process typically ranges from 60 to 90 days, depending on document submission and hospital requirements.
