Data Scientist - Summary

Duties & Responsibilities
- Design and deploy predictive models addressing occupancy, runtime, energy cost forecasting, anomaly detection, and system preconditioning within home energy management.
- Apply data-driven insights to optimize demand response, facilitate time-of-use shifting, and enhance virtual power plant strategies for connected homes.
- Partner with data engineering to improve data integrity, ensuring scalability and transforming legacy datasets into robust, reusable data products.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, and analytics teams to embed intelligence directly into technology platforms.
- Communicate complex model outcomes clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Engage in rapid prototyping and continuous iteration, taking predictive models from initial concept through to production deployment in partnership with engineering.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Demonstrated expertise in predictive modeling, forecasting, and applied machine learning, including methods such as regression, gradient boosting, time-series analysis, and causal inference.
- Experience analyzing and processing large-scale event and sensor data, preferably within the energy, IoT, or device-driven sectors.
- Advanced proficiency in Python, including libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, and PySpark, as well as experience with distributed computing environments (Spark, Databricks, GCP).
- Ability to collaborate with engineering teams to transition models from research and development into production environments.
- Strong statistical analysis skills, including feature engineering and experimental design methodologies such as A/B testing.
