Dental Hygienist (RDH) - Summary
- Provide preventive dental care and hygiene assessments as part of a multidisciplinary dental team.
- Support the health and readiness of service members, veterans, and families by promoting high-quality, patient-centered care.
- Maintain strict compliance with regulatory and safety standards in all aspects of clinical practice.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough dental hygiene assessments, including reviewing medical and dental histories.
- Perform oral health screenings and periodontal evaluations to identify signs of oral disease.
- Carry out preventive dental procedures such as dental prophylaxis (cleanings), scaling, and root planning.
- Apply fluoride treatments, sealants, and desensitizing agents as indicated.
- Expose, process, and evaluate dental radiographs in accordance with certification and safety protocols.
- Assist in early detection and documentation of oral diseases, reporting findings to the dentist.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, including brushing, flossing, and dietary recommendations.
- Provide individualized preventive care guidance and explain treatment procedures and post-care instructions.
- Collaborate with dentists and other dental team members to support treatment plans and ongoing patient care.
- Assist during dental examinations and procedures when necessary.
- Prepare patients and treatment areas to ensure comfort, safety, and operational efficiency.
- Document clinical findings, treatments rendered, and patient education accurately in dental records.
- Stay compliant with all federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA, infection control, and HIPAA.
- Adhere to established protocols for instrument sterilization and clinical safety.
- Maintain active licensure and participate in continuing education to stay current in best practices.
- Support clinic operations by ensuring readiness of equipment, instruments, and supplies.
- Promote a safe, respectful, and patient-centered environment in all interactions.
- Assist with quality assurance initiatives and contribute to ongoing clinical service improvement.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene from a program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) of the American Dental Association (ADA).
- Valid and active license to practice as a Dental Hygienist (RDH).
- AHA/ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Certified in Radiography.
- Possession of a 10-digit National Provider Identifier (NPI) number.
- Minimum of one year of specialized experience post-graduation from dental hygiene school.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
