The Medicaid Data Architect plays a pivotal role in designing, developing, and optimizing integrated data solutions within a large-scale Medicaid Claims Processing environment. This position is responsible for collaborating with both business and technical stakeholders to analyze, enhance, and test system functionalities, ensuring effective data integration and governance. The Medicaid Data Architect operates at the intersection of information technology and healthcare, focusing on the management and utilization of multi-terabyte data systems in a government agency context. As part of the Medicaid sprint team and working in collaboration with the Office of Data Analytics & Performance (DAP), the Medicaid Data Architect is tasked with implementing best practices in data architecture, supporting the mission to make curated client data visible, accessible, and trustworthy. This enables secure and effective analytics within the Integrated Continuum of Care Analytics initiative. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in both Medicaid data and advanced data architecture principles, as well as experience with provider claims, encounters, client movements, and clinical assessments.

Medicaid Data Architect - Summary
- Designs and develops integrated data architecture solutions for Medicaid Claims Processing systems.
- Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to analyze, document, and implement data enhancements.
- Ensures data integrity, accessibility, and governance in support of large-scale healthcare analytics initiatives.
- Works closely with the Office of Data Analytics & Performance to align data strategies with organizational goals.
- Participates in the ongoing development and optimization of a multi-terabyte data integration hub.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex data architectures for Medicaid-related projects.
- Analyze existing data systems and recommend enhancements to improve efficiency, scalability, and data quality.
- Document and enforce data architecture standards, ensuring best practices are consistently applied.
- Collaborate with business analysts, data engineers, and IT stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Support the integration of data across multiple platforms, ensuring compatibility and interoperability.
- Facilitate data migration, transformation, and loading processes for Medicaid claims, encounters, and clinical data sets.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data architecture issues, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Contribute to the development and execution of overall data governance strategies.
- Participate in project sprints and cross-functional team meetings to align on deliverables and timelines.
- Provide expertise in data modeling, metadata management, and data lineage documentation.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in data architecture, demonstrating deep knowledge of principles, standards, and best practices.
- At least 10 years of experience working with Medicaid data, specifically in provider claims, encounters, client movement, and clinical assessments.
- Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) credential from DAMA.
- Proven ability to define, document, and implement data architecture standards.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and analytical skills.
- Experience in large, multi-terabyte data environments and familiarity with healthcare data compliance requirements.
