OB/GYN Registered Nurse (RN) - Summary
- Provide expert nursing care in an OB/GYN clinical environment, supporting patients through all stages of obstetrical and gynecological care.
- Serve as a liaison among patients, families, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to facilitate effective communication and care planning.
- Ensure compliance with clinical standards, ethical guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and quality improvement initiatives.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Coordinate and deliver patient care in collaboration with physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals.
- Conduct physical exams, obtain medical histories, and maintain detailed patient records.
- Utilize electronic health record systems to input and extract patient data accurately.
- Monitor patients for adverse signs and symptoms, responding promptly in emergency situations and initiating life-saving measures as necessary.
- Educate and counsel patients and families on health promotion, disease prevention, and treatment plans as directed by medical providers.
- Operate and monitor specialized medical equipment, including IV infusion pumps, cardiac monitors, EKG units, and other OB-specific devices.
- Perform or assist with clinical procedures such as bladder catheterizations, pulse oximetry, oxygen administration, and EKGs, adhering to established protocols.
- Provide oversight to paraprofessionals involved in therapeutic treatments, ensuring professionalism and quality care at all times.
- Participate in committee meetings, quality improvement projects, and customer service initiatives to enhance clinic operations and patient satisfaction.
- Stay current with clinic standards of care, Joint Commission requirements, and documentation protocols to ensure ongoing compliance and staff training.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an NLNAC or CCNE-accredited institution. Associate degree may be considered with relevant Labor and Delivery or clinical obstetrics experience.
- Active, unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the United States.
- Minimum of two years clinical nursing experience, with at least one year in outpatient obstetrics or Labor and Delivery, including competence in antepartum fetal monitoring.
- Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from recognized authorities (AHA or Red Cross).
- Ability to use computer applications such as Microsoft Office and familiarity with electronic health record systems, specifically Military Health System (MHS) EHR GENESIS.
- U.S. citizenship required.
