Process Piping Estimator - Summary
- Responsible for preparing competitive and comprehensive estimates for industrial and commercial process piping projects.
- Collaborates with general contractors, vendors, and internal project teams to ensure clarity and accuracy in project scopes and costs.
- Supports business development by identifying and evaluating new project opportunities that align with company goals.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Engage with pre-construction departments of targeted general contractors to identify and assess upcoming project opportunities.
- Evaluate project opportunities for alignment with company goals, competitive advantages, and profitability targets.
- Review drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and contracts to identify scope and cost impacts.
- Utilize leading estimating software (such as FastPIPE, FastDUCT, Trimble Autobid, Bluebeam, or QuickPen) and advanced computer-based takeoff systems to prepare estimates.
- Coordinate drawings, scopes, and key contact points with other trades to ensure comprehensive project understanding.
- Prepare and submit RFIs, request pricing from vendors and subcontractors, and develop project recaps, schedules, and related documentation.
- Produce detailed reports to support bid review meetings with the Estimating Manager.
- Assist in selling projects by supporting scope development, presentations, and negotiation efforts with clients and stakeholders.
- Participate in project kickoff meetings to present project scopes, work plans, budgets, and any project limitations.
- Track labor productivity and monitor project performance against initial estimates to identify variances and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Attend daily staff meetings to discuss project updates, scope changes, and to coordinate production plans.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years experience estimating industrial or commercial construction projects, with specific expertise in high-purity process piping.
- Proficiency with estimating software such as FastPIPE, FastDUCT, Trimble Autobid, Bluebeam, or QuickPen.
- Strong computer skills, especially with Microsoft Excel.
- Preferred experience in semiconductor and/or biopharmaceutical construction environments.
- Background in field, craft, or piping trades, or a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with related piping systems, including plumbing and HVAC systems.
- Physical requirements include the ability to sit for extended periods, lift up to 15 pounds occasionally, read printed and digital materials, climb ladders, access confined spaces, and wear personal protective equipment as necessary.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work in environments with moderate noise levels.
