Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) - Summary
- Deliver comprehensive behavioral health nursing care to adults in a clinical setting.
- Support patients with psychiatric and substance use disorders through assessment, treatment planning, and intervention.
- Utilize clinical skills to address complex behavioral health needs.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough behavioral health assessments and obtain patient histories to inform care planning.
- Apply the nursing process to identify patient needs, formulate nursing diagnoses, and establish care objectives.
- Design, document, and implement individualized nursing care plans aimed at achieving optimal patient outcomes.
- Recognize and respond to crisis situations, utilizing knowledge of emergent psychiatric disorders and crisis intervention techniques.
- Gather and analyze bio-psychosocial information from patients and families to guide treatment interventions, especially related to substance use and dependency.
- Monitor for signs and symptoms of withdrawal or relapse, and initiate appropriate interventions as needed.
- Demonstrate expertise in behavioral health triage, evaluation, and treatment, ensuring the appropriate level of care for each clinical case.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver holistic care across the behavioral health continuum.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with regulatory standards and organizational policies.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to maintain and enhance clinical competencies in psychiatric nursing.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Diploma, Associate Degree, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing).
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license from a U.S. state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
- Minimum of three years’ full-time experience within the last five years as an RN in a behavioral health care setting, caring for adult patients.
- Demonstrated proficiency in psychiatric nursing skills as verified by clinical management and skills assessments.
