Safety Coordinator - Summary
- Administers and supports the injury and illness prevention program to minimize occupational hazards.
- Works closely with management and field teams to ensure regulatory compliance and promote a safety-first culture.
- Acts as a resource for safety training, documentation, and reporting to drive continuous improvement in workplace safety.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct safety surveys, job hazard analyses, and regular inspections, preparing comprehensive reports and recommendations for corrective measures.
- Assist with post-incident investigations, identifying root causes and contributing hazards, and collaborate with the Safety Manager on resolution planning.
- Implement and deliver safety training programs, including CPR-First Aid, Lockout Tag Out, and Forklift Certification, and conduct emergency drills.
- Maintain accurate training records, safety files, and incident documentation, ensuring all compliance requirements are met.
- Lead new-hire orientations and administer safety protocols for onboarding, including pre-employment physicals and substance testing procedures.
- Facilitate effective communication with all staff, especially during high-pressure situations, and coordinate after-hours safety activities when needed.
- Organize and document safety meetings, track attendance, and report on specific safety topics relevant to current projects.
- Maintain positive professional relationships with clients, staff, and the corporate safety department, ensuring open channels for feedback and suggestions.
- Assist with regulatory inspections, audits, and investigations, supporting compliance efforts and facilitating corrective actions as necessary.
- Provide routine administrative support to the Safety Manager and, as needed, to operations and field teams.
- Resolve issues related to material quality, equipment operation, and procedural compliance, offering solutions and methods for improvement.
- Perform additional administrative duties such as answering phones, filing, report generation, and general office tasks.
- Ensure all assigned tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company timelines.

Qualifications & Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; BA/BS in safety, construction, engineering, or related field preferred.
- At least two years of experience in construction or a related safety environment.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company fleet policy requirements.
- Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, FMSCA, and other relevant health and safety regulations.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and training skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management software.
- Flexibility to travel as business needs require and to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- First-Aid, CPR, and OSHA 30 Hour certification preferred.
- Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are a plus.
