ServiceNow CMDB Administrator - Summary
The ServiceNow CMDB Administrator is responsible for overseeing the lifecycle management, governance, and quality of the Configuration Management Database within ServiceNow. This position involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including developers, platform owners, and business stakeholders, to ensure that the CMDB remains accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with organizational needs. The administrator supports discovery and integration initiatives, upholds data certification policies, and troubleshoots issues related to ServiceNow Discovery and CSDM (Common Service Data Model). Leveraging analytical skills and technical expertise, the ServiceNow CMDB Administrator translates business requirements into actionable technical solutions that enhance process efficiency and data integrity.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Own and manage the quality, governance, and integrity of Configuration Management data within ServiceNow CMDB.
- Maintain and continuously improve the health and accuracy of CMDB records across the IT environment.
- Support ServiceNow Discovery, integrations, and data certification efforts to ensure reliable and current configuration items (CIs).
- Collaborate closely with ServiceNow developers, administrators, platform owners, and business stakeholders to drive data-driven decisions and process enhancements.
- Implement and monitor CMDB Workspace, Data Manager, and Data Certification Policies to guarantee compliance with organizational standards.
- Administer and troubleshoot CSDM 4.0 or 5.0, ensuring the correct mapping and categorization of service components.
- Contribute to asset management and configuration item lifecycle processes, identifying areas for improvement and automation.
- Document procedures, maintain audit trails, and ensure alignment with ITIL best practices.
- Provide guidance and training to team members and stakeholders on CMDB and ServiceNow best practices.

Qualifications & Requirements
- 3-5+ years of hands-on experience as a ServiceNow CMDB Administrator, with a strong understanding of ITSM frameworks.
- Proficiency in ServiceNow CMDB Workspace, Data Manager, and Data Certification Policies.
- Demonstrated experience with ServiceNow Discovery administration and troubleshooting, as well as CSDM 4.0 or 5.0 implementation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Familiarity with asset management processes and configuration item lifecycle management.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to data quality and governance standards.
